Modern Charm
Entrusted to bring this two-storey interwar Federation bungalow back to life, we reinstated its charm with a fresh coastal feel on a base of white walls, oak flooring and natural materials.
The kitchen doubled in size, contemporised in a monochrome scheme with a fluted timber island base topped in sleek white marble. To maximise storage, we added floor-to-ceiling black joinery with pocket doors that open to reveal a hidden bar.
The interior was a jigsaw that we streamlined by re-programming the rear, switching the living room into the dining. New floor-to-ceiling windows now flood the rear with light, allowing a bright space for the family to enjoy meals together.
Inspired by the owner’s travels to the far north coast of NSW, the formal living is decorated with marine blue cushions, adding pop to the space. Reinstated with heritage-inspired mouldings, the traditional fireplace is a cosy corner for the family to retreat.
The luxurious appearance of natural marble is coupled with the easy care and durability of engineered stone in all of the wet areas. Accents of brass and a statement pendant add a touch of luxe to the powder room.
Part of the extended footprint on the upper level, the main bathroom is a calm wet area, the classic freestanding bathtub paired with contemporary tapware. Veined honeycomb hexagon tiles run across the floor and up the walls, cradling the room in serenity.

“Cannot recommend the team at HBB highly enough. It was great to see how they worked with our builder and trade teams to create a productive environment. Fantastic design touches, functionality, inspired interior design choices and deep expertise underpinned the result, which is our forever home. ”
