Designed for busy homeowners that travel frequently, the brief for this residence was crystal clear: simple, effortless and practical. Finishes needed to be beautiful but family friendly and it was essential that the landscaping be low maintenance. Clean and contemporary with a neutral palette, the result is a functional, fabulous, forever home.

Navigating the kitchen has been made easy, the large central bench expansive enough for food preparation and the circulation enabling multiple people to cook at the same time. Stools nestle under the cantilevered island for casual meals, and with the dining table and sofa in close proximity, there’s plenty of places to perch or plonk. The beautifully detailed joinery features textured screens concealing a bar.

The open-plan layout is flexible, with room configurations that can be adapted as the family grows. Large sliding stacker doors connect the interior with the outdoors, opening up to the vast pool and lawn.

We used a tight materials palette of Arabescato Vagli, vein cut travertine and blonde timber flooring for a contemporary look that is both luxurious and laid-back. Oversized and striking, the fireplace adds warmth to the lounge area.

The parents retreat is more than just a bedroom, with extra space to wind down after a busy day. The expansive ceiling height allowed for oversized pendants with sculptural forms while a glass door balcony floods the room with natural light.
